Google Server API Key

To use this plugin you must follow the guidelines set forth by Google. Google owns YouTube® and hosts YouTube® ’s API. To do this you must have a Google account.

To get your API Key follow these steps:

  1. Log in to Google.
  2. Go to the APIs console here: https://console.developers.google.com/project
  3. Click the “Create a project” link.
  4. Fill out the “Project Name” field and click the “Create” button.

    It may take Google a minute to create your project.
  5. Once your project has been created, click on the “Library” tab on the left-hand side.
  6. Type “maps” into the search box.
  7. Find the “Geocoding API” and click it:
  8. Click to Enable the API.
  9. Repeat these steps to enable the Google Maps Javascript API
  10. Navigate to the “Credentials” tab.
  11. Click the “New Credentials” button and select API Key.
  12. Click the “Restrict Key” button.
  13. Select “IP Addresses” and fill in your server’s IP address.

    Please note: If your server does not have a static outbound IP Address or for some reason you’re unable to attain your IP Address, simply leave the IP Address field blank. The plugin will work without specifying an IP Address. Make sure no one is able to get their hands on your API Key. Without specifying your IP Address anyone could use this key to make calls to Google and could potentially max out your allowed Google API requests.
  14. Copy and paste this key into the plugin’s settings. Make sure to save!
